Pipes and Phones
Two Worlds of Sound in Dialogue
The duo PIPES AND PHONES brings together apparent opposites: jazz and sacred music.
The saxophonist Peter Lehel and the organist Peter Schindler come together at an exciting and unusual crossroads – where the emotional power of jazz meets the majestic sound of the organ. The saxophone enters into a virtuoso exchange with the time-honoured pipe organ. Improvisation and composition, meditative sounds and rhythmic energy alternate with virtuosity, creating a listening experience beyond stylistic boundaries.
The natural resonance of sacred spaces heightens this distinctive listening experience, which touches a broad audience.
Markus Faller regularly expands the duo into a trio: with his finely nuanced percussion, he lends the project additional groove and dynamism.
