Capturing my musical ideas in a composition is, for me, an inner necessity.

It fills me with joy when others play and sing my music. They give me their time and their trust, and form a personal bond with my melodies, harmonies, rhythms and words. Danke. Merci. Thanks. Grazie …

My work as a composer has grown over many years. The process is like swimming from a small cove into a larger bay – and finally out into the open sea. And the journey is not over yet.

Again and again I discover new bays I had never known before. I know I will never be able to discover them all. And that is precisely the appeal – it remains exciting to see where the journey leads next.

Composing also means leaving behind the familiar, the learned and the expected, and having the courage to strike out on new paths.

To move people with music, to touch and console them – and to fill their hearts with melody and harmony – that, for me, is the meaning of my life.
