Peter Schindler / Maik Brandenburg: Friedenslied
“Peace is the peace that you yourself bring.”
So runs a line from the “Friedenslied” (Song of Peace) by Peter Schindler (music) and Maik Brandenburg (lyrics). It is part of the musical “Fanny und der himmlische Hit”, which retold for children the story of how the famous Christmas carol “Silent Night” came to be.
This little song of peace reminds us vividly that peace is not always negotiated on a grand scale and on international stages; rather, it dwells as a source within the small, the unseen and the unspoken, and from there it can have its greatest effect. May it go from heart to heart and be sung.
Musicals & Songs
Peter Schindler has composed numerous musicals and children’s songs that are performed throughout the German-speaking world.
In collaboration with a range of authors, librettos and lyrics have been written for his music that unfold a rich and varied world of themes.
Schindler’s “archetypal” themes tell of courage and friendship, of longing and hope, but also of life’s darker sides. His musicals and songs take up a wide range of subjects – from nature and the environment, through the worlds of the circus and Christmas, to stories of greed for power, cunning and treachery, as well as spooky tales, ghosts, fairy tales and crime plots.
His gripping and highly entertaining pieces touch people of all ages, making his music a living experience for children, young people and adults alike.
As a composer and pianist, Peter Schindler furnishes his works with finely shaped, eminently playable piano accompaniments and varied orchestral arrangements.
For his productions – all of them high-quality recordings – Peter Schindler works in the studio with virtuoso musicians who record their acoustic instruments live.
