Performance & Music
Soul, Sunflower

“Soul, Sunflower” is a German–Korean collaboration between the National Theater of Korea in Seoul and the quintet Saltacello – music by Peter Schindler, choreography by Jung-Hye Bae. The performance weaves together this world and the next in salpuri, the Korean dance of spiritual cleansing, and opens up space for shamanic rituals and age-old longings.
Dance and music do not stand side by side but enter into a constant dialogue. The music does not accompany the movement, nor does the movement illustrate the music – rather, the two merge into a single whole in which rhythmic energy and choreographic gesture are inseparably bound.
The artists invite the audience to immerse themselves in a sensual world full of tension, physicality and tone colour – an experience that resonates far beyond the stage and becomes an aesthetic journey between tradition, innovation and universal longings.
