In his scenic cantata “Sonne, Mond und Sterne” [Sun, Moon and Stars] Peter Schindler weaves texts from five centuries into a kaleidoscope of life. The poems are about the orbs sun, moon and stars; about love, desire, passion, time, the circle of live, about dreaming and dying. Quotidian and vulgarly funny as well as deeply serious topics are sung about. These texts by 26 famous German poets are reinterpreted through their musical adaptation.
The cross-over music between jazz, chanson, pop and chamber music is blended by the composer into a unique and distinctive musical language. “Sonne, Mond und Sterne” speaks to all generations, from the experienced singer of classical music to the advanced youth choir with roots in pop music.
